EIC constructed a new 96” diameter combined sewer by pipe jacking methods in depths ranging from 35 ft. to 60 ft.  The pipe selected was a fiber-glass reinforced thermosetting resin pipe which was installed in two jacking runs: 728 ft. and 235 ft.

The tunnel heading was advanced with a conventional open shield with a telescopic (mechanical) digging arm and hydraulic breast plates. A trenching operation was used to install1,500 ft. of 8 ft. by 10 ft. precast box culverts at a depth of approximately 22 ft. for combined sewer sanitary sewers.
